The Fluid Connections Residence designed by Muuk Architecture, is located on an enchanting site on the edge of Brome Lake in southern Quebec. Built-in place of an old chalet on the tip of Cedar Bay, the clean and sober lines of the new residence highlight the surrounding nature.

Reflection is the work of Québec-based Bourgeois Lechasseur / architects, who have developed a highly versatile approach to get-away rentals. They first experimented with the luxurious Charlevoix Domes, followed by the slightly nostalgic Cabin A. Reflection, their latest endeavor, is a set of two resolutely contemporary cabins in the woods.

Located on Lac Tremblant, one of Québec’s most highly esteemed lakes, the site presented features as spectacular as they were restrictive. Very steep terrain and high rock cliffs allowed few options for implementation or traffic on the site. A very large flat rock cap on the edge of the lake was chosen as “level 0” and allowed creation of the MTR Residence project’s anchoring identity.

A crazy site! But one of the greatest things about Architecture is having lots of constraints. The more constraints, the more inventive you have to be. The site drops steeply from the road, almost a 25 ft sheer drop down to a flat site, with retaining walls below.
