This restaurant design is called “Pracownia” (“workshop” in Polish). The interior was designed to remind diners of painter’s studio with the space splashed with paint.

The dynamic tree installation, comprising layered discs of oak, rises up in the middle of the shop, catching the attention of shoppers. A leaf design for the floor is reminiscent of scattered autumn leaves. “Just think of the Black Forest, Grimm’s Fairy Tales and even the German oak.

The architects’ concpet here is to introduce a series of perpendicular walls that will organize the space. By walls are wide enough to be storage spaces. The single space with walls replace the existing cellular offices along the perimeter and a hallway in the center.

Before designing this project the architects visited and analyzed other similar spaces trying to find some errors that could be corrected. They found out that a basic error being committed was that most of these services only had one type of space. This design attitude ignored the variation of mood one feels during the day, or even one is alone or with friends, needs a place to read a book or just wants to socialize.

To interest these burgeoning new users, Triton Court was renamed Alphabeta, stripped back to its historic core and redesigned from the inside out. It started with a strong new direct route through the building from Worship Street (Shoreditch) to Finsbury Square (City).

The uncommon form, narrowness, vertical amplitude of the space and the two big glass façades placed on the main and back façade defined mainly the organization of the spaces.

Inspiration for the design of this multi-brand boutique came from the way Indo-Islamic art and architecture use repetition of geometric forms to achieve intricate decorative patterns. Echoing the famous dome of the Taj Mahal and other landmarks of the Mughal period, a stylised hourglass form is repeated, building a texture and rhythm reminiscent of traditional patterns but made modern in its application, simplicity and materiality.
