International landscape architecture, planning, and urban design firm SWA Group announce the opening of their design, The Clearing, which was selected unanimously by the Sandy Hook Permanent Memorial Commission among 189 international design submissions and with overwhelming support from the families of the victims. The Memorial was is implemented on a donated five-acre site in Newtown, Connecticut.

He died peacefully in his home in Binsted, near Arundel, England, United Kingdom, on 17 March 2022, following a long illness; the immediate cause was reported to be pneumonia. He was an emeritus professor at the University of California, Berkeley.

The Independent, the iconic Austin skyscraper designed by Rhode Partners, has achieved LEED Gold Certification, confirming its international status as a green building. It has also been recognized by the 2022 CTBUH Awards, in which it has won an Award of Excellence in the “Best Tall Building – Residential” category. This is the only project located in Texas to receive the award as well as the only project in the southern United States represented.

The brief for Haas Valley Farm was to design a weekend getaway for a Chicago area family on property that has been in their extended family for generations. Tall and thin, the Haas Valley Farm Residence perches on its site which is centered in the Driftless Area, a small pocket of the Midwest so named because the glaciers skipped over the region.
