Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners (BBB) and real estate developer North American Properties announce the completion of Colony Square, a renewal of a 50-year-old mixed-use development located in the heart of one of the Southeast’s urban cores. Known for its track record of creating experiential mixed-use destinations, NAP led the $400 m redevelopment of Colony Square, with BBB leading the architecture, design, and planning in collaboration with Atlanta-based architect Lord Aeck Sargent.

The Grant Park House began with a classic Atlanta craftsman style bungalow in the historic Grant Park neighborhood that was in need of significant repair. The extensive renovation to the roof that was required allowed for a complete reconceiving of the home in plan and section, creating a new sky-lit single volume and wide open living spaces with a lofted floor above the more intimate bed and bath rooms.

The master site plan proposal to stitch together the pivotal Centennial Yards site in Downtown Atlanta has been revealed. The project is part of a $5 billion transformation of parking lots and former railyards into an experiential and inclusive mixed-use development. Foster + Partners is collaborating with Perkins+Will in further refining the plan that positions Centennial Yards as a leading model of urban design and placemaking.

It is the latest concept from James Beard award-winning chef, Linton Hopkins, who named the restaurant after his great-grandfather, an engineer who built bridges across the Southeast. Charles Ellet, Jr. thus served as our muse as we gathered design inspiration from the language of cartography and the meandering tributaries that flow into the Mississippi and down to New Orleans.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is due to open on August 26 with the first game by Atlanta Falcons in their new home. The arena is also the new home ground for the Atlanta United soccer team. The signature feature is the retractable roof. It opens and closes with eight ‘petals’ covered in ETFE pillows.
