Memorial to Peace and Justice in Alabama
The new memorial building is intended to acknowledge victims of lynching throughout American history. EJI also plans to construct a museum, called “From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration,” inside its headquarters, a former slave warehouse in downtown Montgomery. The goal of this project is to trace racial history in the U.S. from the earliest days of slavery, through the Jim Crow era, to the present day.

In the year 2000, University of South Alabama president V. Gordon Moulton commissioned a needs and economic analysis for establishment of an academic cancer center at USA. The resulting study demonstrated both the opportunity and potential financial viability for such a center.

Alabama is a state in the Deep South region of the Southern United States. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north; Georgia to the east; Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south; and Mississippi to the west.
Alabama is the 30th largest by area and the 24th-most populous of the U.S. states. With a total of 1,500 miles (2,400 km) of inland waterways, it has among the most of any state. It is nicknamed the Yellowhammer State, after the state bird.
