An Extension on a Aix-en-Provence Vineyard
The Vineyard Extension is the addition to this family home was designed for the owners, who wanted more living space and panoramic views of sunsets over the vineyard. The existing structure, a contemporary local-style villa, is an H-shaped house. Since its construction in 1998, the owners’ space requirements have changed. The goal of the project was to add more rooms, and to showcase the surrounding landscape.

“I was going to walk in the footsteps of my grandfather” – that was the motivation of the architect when he agreed to renovate this residence built by his grandfather, also an architect. And with a particularly emotional commitment, the grandson began a contemporary reinterpretation of the main residence, two generations apart.

Caraccard is first and foremost a story of family continuity and family connections. The client himself is the son of a client of the architect’s father, and he chose the agency to make his alpine dream come true based on the strength of that relationship of trust that was forged during their previous collaboration.

The Wood House
Working within the shell of an existing flat, this project required a complete reconfiguration of the floorplan. With the original flat comprised of a 40m² bedroom and small kitchen, bathroom and living spaces, the design response by the architects studio was to create more proportionate rooms.

This new French property with its large north-facing garden, had very little natural light and the living space on the ground floor was segmented into too many sections with low ceilings. Load-bearing walls and partitions have been removed in order to create a homogeneous and airy place.

This large French farmhouse proeprty is sited on a vast plot on the outskirts of a village. The residence had recently undergone a clumsy renovation, which deformed the classic farmhouse archetype and the owners did not feel at home.

The villa was built in the 90’s. Its floor plan presents very particular proportions: a 15 metres long entrance hall which leads inside the house and a linear perspective view opening up to the garden.

Quiet House in Gignac
The land on which it fits, of very small size, is located between a vineyard shed in operation to the West, the parking of a neighbour to the East, surrounded by their access road, a main street to the south. Oriented to the North, it is also subject to a regime of prevailing winds.
But it enjoys an exceptional and breathtaking view on the valley.

How to extend a large 19th century house without betraying its character or resorting to imitation or superficial stylistic effects, whilst keeping the right distance?
