House H2
This luxurious house is located on an exceptional site in South Corsica.
A peninsula surrounded by a beach and a port that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.
The residential project was conceived by the architects Vincent Coste and Bruno Fléchet in a logic of erasure in relation to the place.
The wind-lean endemic vegetation and the resurgence of existing granitic phalanges have been identified and localized thus serving as geometric anchors for the project.
The main house stretches and folds longitudinally according to the curvatures inflicted by the banks of the plot.
Four distinct volumes are positioned on the sandstone of the frames and orientations specific to the sea.
These pieces of dark granite cut in “flint” generate in between and configure a path linking each of the entities.
This interstice unfolds and forms the backbone of the project.
Ensuring the entrance of the house, it serves as a place of ramp, terrace, loggia and beach according to its position.
This device allows crossing the landscape and manages views towards the sea.
It creates intimate outdoor spaces, ideal for outdoor living out of sight.
This course on the ground is accentuated in mirror by a major awning positioned in levitation without a single point of support to the ground.
It is the structural tour de force and the foundation of the project “a line suspended in the landscape”.
The architectural unit of the project is made by this majestic red cedar beam filtering the light in stripes on each plane met.
This pergola refines itself towards the views and contributes to accentuate the fineness of the facades from the sea.
This imposing volume of wood striated on all its faces is also crossed by vegetation and fragilized by the perforation of a granite monolith.
At its base two basins with movable bottoms forming giant rectangular basins are inserted in the composition and offer reflections to the general atmosphere.
Exterior plant rooms are also inserted in the form of a patio to allow nature to penetrate the heart of the project.
The living room in transparency on the sea offers a view without a cut on the horizon.
Hermetic night volumes set back, one carpet in the vegetation and offering tapestries of shrubs or sandy beach to the interiors, the other open to the west offering in postcard a setting sun.
The entrances of the volumes are carved by huge swathes of granite.
The play of the monumental shutters of wood sliding and pivoting, adept of a variable geometry aiming to change the physiognomy of the elevations, allows the vertical shading of the volumes of life and the management of the sunshine.
All materials were chosen to make the whole mimetic instead.
The living room of which the three faces are totally transparent, offers a view on the sea without crossing the horizon
