Perched on a 3,000-meter ridge in Jiuzhaigou is a tiny village of just eight wooden cabins—recognized as China’s smallest administrative settlement. Shanxi, as one of the most significant regions preserving ancient Chinese timber architecture, is home to invaluable examples such as Nanchan Temple and Foguang Temple. These surviving structures reflect the enduring cultural lineage and craftsmanship embedded in traditional Eastern architecture.

The Catcher Guesthouse, Shanghai
Design: TEAM_BLDG
The original site comprised two independently built rural houses whose forms and interior layouts could not accommodate the needs of a modern guesthouse. Down in the Clouds Installation in Ningbo, Dun’ao Village, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province
Design: Practice on Earth + Increments Studio
From the outset, the studio sought to capture the serenity of farmlands encircled by hills. Rather than relying on conventional architectural language, they chose to express this atmosphere through a series of short poems and illustrations. This abstract, reductive approach reconsiders the relationship between body and nature, opening up possibilities that feel light, intimate, and playfully engaging.

CXCC SUMMIT 58, Shanghai
Architects: Wutopia Lab
Observation decks in skyscrapers have become essential destinations in contemporary urban tourism. Yet simply rising to great heights is no longer enough to distinguish one tower from another. In response, the client sought to explore the thematic, topical, and cultural dimensions of the skyscraper landmark. The ambition is for the observatory to evolve beyond a mere extension of a supertall building, becoming instead an urban attraction in its own right and an independent cultural destination.
