Toffee Factory – RIBA Award
The derelict toffee factory, with a forest of trees growing out of its ruined shell, has been reincarnated as a managed work space for the creative industries and is almost fully let. It has become a landmark in the regeneration of the Ouseburn Valley and a significant addition to Newcastle’s architectural legacy.

Newcastle Architecture Photos
This is the largest city in the north east of England. The community was famous for its industrial heritage based around the River Tyne, with mile upon mile of docks on both sides of the river, especially the south side down to South Shields.
The football club is a major element in the city’s spirit and the St James stadium sits on the hill above the town centre, visible for miles.
Newcastle’s most prestigious street is Grey Street with its elegant neoclassical buildings rising up the hill, with the Theatre Royal towards the top. The street gently curves, giving it a pleasant feel.
