The newest Apple Store in South Korea, Apple Myeongdong, has now opened to the public. Located at the heart of Seoul’s vibrant commercial centre, the store is positioned at the base of a new 20-storey mixed-use tower, occupying the full width of the city block to create a grand street frontage.

UNStudio’s remodelling of the Hanwha HQ Building in Seoul has been completed. With this retrofit, the headquarters of the world’s market leader in solar panels has been modernised to meet the most up to date sustainability requirements. Based on environmental considerations, a conscious decision was made to remodel the existing building, rather than for demolition and new build.

A new 2-building art-entertainment complex close to Incheon Airport. Featuring a nightclub in one building and indoor theme park in the other, the windowless structures feature three key design elements: imprints of the façade features of surrounding buildings, lifted entrances, and a golden entrance spot covering one corner of the nightclub building.

For an invited architectural competition, AllesWirdGut developed a design for a 3,000-unit residential quarter in the South-Korean capital city of Seoul. The proposal for the 120,000 m² area situated in a privileged waterside location is for a development of 17 high-rise buildings on amorphously shaped plinths, which combines high densification and urbanity with a strong identity-generating character and maximum amenity quality.

Block R6 is a narrow parcel bounded by the planned Mountain Park—including Children’s Interactive Spray Park, Rail Road Museum, Outdoor Amphitheater, and Yongsan Station Esplanade—and the central park of the planned development Zone B3, adjacent to Hangang-ro. By placing the building to the south of Block R6, all units command great views and the building forms a gateway to YIBD from Hangang-ro.

The Eco Bridge proposal is based on a simple and pure concept: to recreate the link that once existed in the current situation of the infrastructural void with a spatial structure that would be atmospherically reminiscent to a pictorial passage through the southern slopes of the two discontinued mountain peaks of Mt. Umyeon and Maljukgeori Parks.
