The project for the Embassy of Ghana in Paris by Serero Architectes is based on a double paradox: creating transparency on an interior garden while preserving strict confidentiality of the workspaces, and digging the entire basement of this mansion in order to clear a large parking lot under the building. Transparency and confidentiality, heritage preservation and resumption of foundations are the themes that have strongly marked the project.

The design of the new Swiss Embassy in Yaoundé pays tribute to its renewed presence in the Cameroon and a respect for the uniqueness of the site. The resulting proposal is an elegant ensemble that encapsulates the identity and self-image of the Swiss people and their values. As a result, the core concepts that guide this proposal are an expression of Swiss traditional know-how, and an understanding of what the Embassy can represent and achieve.

With a garden at its heart, the 20,000m2 embassy consists of the Chancellery, Consulate, diplomatic residence and private apartments of the Ambassador. Innovative functionality and a bioclimatic design are the result of a site-specific architectural approach and the requirements of a changing world.”

US Embassy Housing
U.S.-based, international designers Sorg Architects, the firm behind over 250 projects in the US and abroad, has designed new, sustainable, staff housing for the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Construction will begin in March 2012 and is scheduled to be completed in January 2014.
