Northbridge House II, Sydney, New South Wales
Design: Roth Architects

Located on the North Shore of Sydney, Northbridge House balances the use of contemporary industrial materials within the surrounding Australian bush context.

Waverley Residence, central south east Sydney
Design: Anderson Architecture
photograph : Nick Bowers
The architects state that in meeting the client’s ambitious brief it was essential to ensure that sustainability was at the core of the design from the outset, despite site restrictions which demanded out of the box solutions to meet performance goals. The final design reconnects with the site, neighbourhood and geography and is a result of extensive computer modelling reinforcing passive solar design principles, leading to an 8 star thermal performance certification for the house.

Cowshed House, Sydney, New South Wales
Design: Carterwilliamson
picture : Brett Boardman
The cowshed sat on a small parcel of land bounded on three sides by roads. The building was simple, essentially a long brick wall that held the urban edge of corner and street and returned to house a few bedrooms in the place of the former stalls. It was the most basic of accommodation.

This new residence tries to integrate itself in the site through use of materials that have been used before and that are part of local historical background. The house shape resembles typological archetypes used by country-men and cowboys that lived in the area.

Surry Hills Terrace House, Sydney, NSW
Design: Danny Broe Architect
photo from architect
The brief given to the architects for this property was to maintain and preserve the lovely big rooms at the front of the house, while radically transforming the kitchen and bathroom at the back into a wonderful contemporary space, and to seamlessly blend inside and outside living spaces.

Boustred House, Mosman, Sydney Middle Harbour, NSW
Design: ian moore architects

House in Mosman
This residential property is located in Mosman on a north facing slope looking across Sydney’s Middle Harbour to the Spit Bridge and Clontarf. The site falls away dramatically from a broad and densely landscaped verge on the street frontage, with a high sandstone cliff forming the southern boundary. The house is nestled into this cliff, shielding it from the street.

Brisbane Street Additions, Perth, Western Australia
Design: rad architecture

Brisbane Street Additions
Conceived as a riposte to the Local Authority’s requirement to superficially ‘decorate’ a large expanse of wall on the western boundary, rad architecture’s concept for the Brisbane Street Additions was drawn from the lifestyle of their clients.
