Overlooking the Peconic Bay, the wooded north facing site has tremendous views of the water and falls 40’ to the wetlands below. The program for the Peconic Bay Residence project was to create a compound that included a 1,500 s.f. single story house “pavilion” and a 400 s.f. pool-house with an in-ground pool with surrounding grade deck.

Sheridan Green is a self-sustaining residence that is located on a 1.1 acre wooded parcel close to the Peconic Bay in Long Island, New York. The house is 1,966 sq.ft. and is built into the slope of the property using long poured concrete retaining walls to create 3 levels.

Perched on the slopes of Ticetonyk Mountain in the Catskills, this home was meticulously designed to integrate with its natural surroundings. The structure’s distinctive form, composed of two back-to-back rectangular volumes, rises in opposite directions to frame views of both the valley to the north and a dramatic rock outcropping to the south.

Something Out of Nothing Architecture Studio (SOON) has renovated a house in the southern Catskills town of Eldred, New York. Located in a forest clearing, the newly renovated house takes advantage of its surroundings by arranging windows on each facade to feature views of the surrounding woodland, made up primarily of pine, oak, and maple.

Inside the home, the architects designed the private spaces to be secluded, and the public spaces to be grand and open. For privacy and to allow natural light inside, they employed slats of rich teak over some of the windows for a screened effect, playing with the spacing of the louvers, allowing the outside to be seen from inside, but not vice versa.

Three years after completion of the main house, the owners of the Tsai Residence approached the HHF team and Ai Weiwei to commission a guesthouse. The guesthouse brief posited three main elements: a bedroom, a workroom and a gallery for the two collectors’ art.
