This elegant new tower rotates as it juts skyward and concludes with an open-top design. As the shape rises, an open notch curves up and around the building. This device is an engineering feature to control the wind up and away from the building. The tower has 120-storys. It will feature office space, residences, a hotel, retail space, restaurants and a public observatory.

This tower is highly unusual, as one might expect from this creative Dutch architecture office. Raising the podium subverts the traditional necessity of connecting a podium to the earth; the design also creates a dramatic public plaza by liberating the ground around the tower. The raised podium also liberates the ground level and forms a large public space. Is this a successful attack on the architectural tradition of the office tower?

This building development is primarily an office tower with a lower residential element. This skyscraper building received an award at the 2012 Cityscape Abu Dhabi Award. The building billows out slightly as it rises, like a subtle version of the Walkie Talkie Building in the City of London. U-bora Towers, which is located in Business Bay, won the Commercial, Office & Retail Project Award in the Built category. This is the fifth award won by this skyscraper building.

This tower is 606 m high (1,988 ft) with 119 floors, making it one of the tallest buildings in the world. The 300,000 sqm area includes about 200,000 sqm of offices, 50,000 sqm of apartments and condominiums, a 45,000 sqm hotel and a 5,000 sqm private club.

The idea by Groleger Arhitekti to create a building, a “diptych”, a merging tower based apparently on two independent volumes, started by a profound analysis of the urbanistic, cultural and social factors of the City of Sarajevo. The result is a metaphorical and encoded building encompassing all environmental influences.
