Famous Korean Architects

Korean Architect Practices – Seoul Design Studios Companies

Kim Swoo-geun (1931–1986): A pioneering figure in modern Korean architecture, Kim Swoo-geun designed significant works including Seoul Olympic Stadium and Sewoon Sangga.

Kim Joong-up (1922–1988): A leading modernist architect, Kim Joong-up is recognised for combining Western architectural principles with the spatial traditions and aesthetic sensibilities of Korea.

Cho Minsuk (born 1966): Founder of Mass Studies, Cho Minsuk is one of South Korea’s most prominent contemporary architects. His work includes Pixel House and the Korean Pavilion at the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale, which was awarded the Golden Lion.

Seung H-Sang (born 1952): Founder of Iroje Architects, Seung H-Sang is known for an architectural approach characterised by minimalism, material restraint and a close relationship with nature.

‘La Ville de Pins’ is a French Restaurant Remodeling project in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, which is the hottest district at metropolitan area in the city of Seoul, Korea.

Cloud Forests Pavilion for Children’s Play
The project’s total budget was $4000 for design, installation, and its maintenance for 6 months. As a Pavilion for Children’s Play, the aim is to awaken the children’s senses and create new play spaces for them to play together, to provide an installation work that children can play with their body in the outdoor exhibition spaces provided by the client.

This work results from a close collaboration between the architect and an enlightened client capable of assimilating and encouraging architectural choices motivated by reasons that generate forms. An extraordinary passion has bound us throughout the years of the project, reaching a synthesis expressed by the completed work.

In order to maintain the visibility, we drove the main section of the museum and galleries to the underground, separating the volume of services transparently from the ground, inspired by Korean native buildings in a modernized image of the ceilings and buildings of Korea to create both nostalgic and modern spaces for users.
