The project comprises a new 236-key Westin Hotel alongside the transformation of an existing property into a 200-room Tribute Portfolio hotel.

30 Pavilion Road Knightsbridge hotel and spa, south west London

Commissioned by property investor JohnMichael Mouskos, PLP Architecture has secured planning permission from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to transform 30 Pavilion Road in Knightsbridge into a 30-room boutique hotel and spa. The proposal reimagines the existing building as a refined hospitality destination, combining contemporary architectural intervention with a sensitive response to its prestigious urban context. Designed to enrich the character of Pavilion Road, the project will introduce high-quality guest accommodation and wellness facilities while contributing to the continued evolution of one of London’s most distinctive neighbourhoods.

The design pairs exposed concrete columns and visible HVAC with aged wood plank flooring and custom “bomb” pendant lights. Natural leather and textured fabric seating add warmth, creating a look that feels both refined and relaxed.

The timber cladding of the new guest rooms, spa and pool area plays a game of shadows and creates a material landscape embedded in the green gardens while the uniting of the old hotel buildings with the new elements is a synthesis of architectural language with simplicity in materials to ensure that the senses are not overwhelmed.

The hotel complex is situated in the newly developed Schwabinger Tor area, along the northern part of the Leopoldstrasse. The challenge in the competition was to bring the architectural characteristics of Munich into this new and modern part of the city. schmidt hammer lassen architects’ design concept has its origin in three themes: the analysis of the historical city with its arches, vaults and arcades; a close relation to the masterplan with its boulevards, plazas and narrow streets; and a focus on human beings as well as the overall experience offered to the hotel guests.

“For the redesign of the InterContinental Ballroom, our artistic point of departure came from recognizing the hotel’s unique location on the edge of Victoria Harbour. We were inspired by the imagery of the harbour at sunset with its shimmering golden glow, its complex textures, colours and activity,” said Stephen Jones, Woods Bagot’s Regional Managing Principal Asia. Achieving a fine balance between boldness and sophistication, the fit-out is comprised of rich textures, reflecting the deepness of the harbour’s sunset through vibrant orange, dark red, bronze and champagne colours, throughout the myriad of spaces.

The hotel design by the architects plays a major part in the redevelopment of an area in the western end of Aberdeen’s city centre. Formerly home to a disused petrol station and warehouse and then for some time a cleared site, the completed project comprises grade ‘A’ commercial office space, a high quality business hotel and underground car parking.
The developer inherited a planning consent mostly for housing which had already achieved a very high plot ratio. The aim of the architects was to build two substantial adjacent buildings, each having a significant urban presence.

Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel
The tower’s facade is bright white on the south, west and east elevations in order to reduce solar gain due to exposure to the sun. The north facade is matt black to help it absorb as much solar radiation as possible during the short time it is exposed to the sun.

Odyssey was responsible for the Hardscape at the Hyatt Regency Pune. The principal architects Bilkey Linas Design and Landscape architect Joel Burega envisioned a tropical feel for the external area of the hotel. Odyssey was involved in the stonework for various elements of the building including its landscape. 5000 sqm of Jaisalmer Flower Limestone in an antique finish has been dry clad on the twin towers of the building; one serving as service apartments and retail, while the second is a five-star business hotel.

Gloria Manor Boutique Hotel
The hotel is located at Kenting in the southernmost part of Taiwan. The property was previously used as a retreat by the late Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek in the late 60’s, thus no major structural or exterior openings were allowed to be changed. With the rich history of the property, the client hoped to achieve two purposes: heritage and sustainability.

Hotel Daniel Vienna
Atelier Heiss converted the former Hoffmann-La Roche-building to an urban hotel. The original building had the first curtain-wall style facade in the city (by architect Georg Lippert in 1962). The landmarked facade and the supporting structure exist to this day. The former offices were adapted to hold 115 double rooms, and the ground floor area was converted into a bakery, a retail shop and the reception.

A withdrawal in the middle of the city, away from the hustle and bustle, is made possible. From the outside the tripartite interlocked structure is supplied with a special plaster (in German called “Besenputz”), like the residences close to the city, but is pushed to the fore with the colour pure white. The building comes to life with its cantilevers, with its shadow play in the façade.

The Prahran Hotel is a substantial two storey corner pub with a striking streamlined art deco facade. The rear of the venue had a poorly proportioned, internalised single storey extension and the clients brief for the project called to demolish and replace it with a dramatic double height space with a central courtyard.

Once could imagine a more dynamic intervention, but here is what the architects say: “…the intervention is a constructive gesture using the contrasts of the existing. Inspiration and commitment resulted from strong links between tradition and modernity, inside and outside, cold and hot, before and after…we worked like archaeologists by interweaving old and new in a very dynamic way.”

Hotel Wiesergut in Hinterglemm / Salzburger Land has re-opened after a complex renovation and extension. The architectural concept was to upgrade the existing traditional structure with ‘puristic’ architecture. Monika Gogl therefore worked very consciously with contrasting materials such as local wood, natural stone, granite, glass and exposed concrete.

Hotel Valentinerhof
The hotel is located in a north Italian village at around 1,200m above sealevel. The family establishment was enhanced and enlarged with a new wellness area and a new lobby with attached bar and restaurant. Fourteen spacious suites were added to make the new hotel increase by 1,100 sqm in area.
