Malmaison York luxury hotel, Yorkshire
This 150-room luxury hotel boasts York’s highest rooftop bar with breath-taking views of York Minster and the historic city beyond. Locally known as the Aviva building, the 1960s brutalist structure truly reflects the principles of the mid-century style and features eight levels of concrete floorplates, façade and waffle ceilings.

Tate Harmer’s design for a new £8.5million hotel at The Eden Project, in Cornwall, has received planning permission. The scheme, set to complete in 2018, will comprise 109-bedrooms, a restaurant and education rooms.

Alton Towers founder, John Broome, wins planning permission to develop “the UK’s first six star resort”. Located between Newquay Airport and fashionable Padstow, the Cornish resort will feature luxury villas, stylish tree houses and a large sub-tropical pool surrounded by thousands of newly planted indigenous trees.

For over a hundred years, the English city of Southampton had its own county cricket ground, the home of Hampshire. However, by the 1990s the historic ground was ageing and becoming increasingly hemmed in by the growth of the city around it. Hampshire Cricket Ltd made a bold move to relocate the cricket ground and construct a brand new stadium.
