The new thermal spa replaces the former baths on the site, introducing a spatial concept that integrates wellness, sport, and relaxation across distinct yet interconnected areas. Approximately 9,400 square meters of gross floor area accommodate thermal baths, sauna and wellness facilities, as well as dining amenities.

With a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony and the laying of the foundation stone, construction of the Forum Deutsche Sprache (German Language Forum) in Mannheim officially commenced. HENN’s design for the new building was selected as the winning entry in an architectural competition held in 2021, with completion scheduled for 2028.

In the competition for the redevelopment of the Berlin headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Defence, the design by HENN, in collaboration with SINAI Landscape Architects, was awarded one of two first prizes. Both winning teams have been commissioned to further develop their proposals. All competition entries will be on display at the Ernst-Reuter-Haus in Berlin from January 22 to February 6, 2026.

The Concert Hall at Kiel Castle highlights the complexities inherent in renewing post-war modern cultural buildings—structures that must be technically upgraded while safeguarding their architectural legacy. From 2019 to 2025, a design team led by gmp · Architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners, in collaboration with bbp : architekten, approached the project as a careful conceptual extension of the original building.

A vacant plot in the heart of Düsseldorf has been transformed by a striking red building that activates the urban block. In 2018, a developer based in Hamburg launched a design competition for the site, which extends deep into the interior of the city block. The brief called for a sustainable office building with high-quality interior spaces and a strong architectural identity.

In the transitional zone between city and countryside, within the Munich district of Freiham urban development area, a residential project has been completed that explores varying intensities of communal living. The development offers a spectrum of housing types, ranging from individual apartments to shared living communities with collective living rooms, as well as cluster apartments.
Five heterogeneous building volumes come together to form a cohesive and vibrant ensemble. Despite their differentiation, they create a flexible structure capable of adapting over time to its evolving context—balancing urban integration with a more rural, open character.

As an innovation center and incubator for renewable energy research, Brainergy Hub brings together the community of the surrounding science park, start-up companies, external experts, and visitors. The circular new building provides flexible spaces for collaboration, presentation, and communication. Its interior design reflects and extends the architectural concept, embodying the transition toward a more sustainable, green future.

Designed by the late Ray Kappe, the home seamlessly blends the warmth and openness of Southern California design with the calm, verdant character of the German countryside, resulting in a dialogue between landscape, light, and timeless architectural principles.

With the unveiling of new design plans by the Swiss architecture firm KCAP Architects & Planners, the vision for Pioneer Quarter—the first of four district developments at LabCampus—is beginning to take shape. The masterplan introduces six new buildings with distinct architectural identities, arranged around generous public spaces, including the central Pioneer Square and a connecting pedestrian walkway, designed to foster movement, interaction, and exchange.

Dockyard is a modern seven-storey office complex with an underground car park, located in Berlin’s Osthafen. The project is constructed using a sustainable, climate- and resource-efficient timber hybrid system.
The development consists of a square building and a rectangular volume, connected by a glazed link structure featuring exposed trusswork made from sustainably sourced beech, expressing both structural clarity and material responsibility.

The offices of the municipal authorities are located above the civil registry functions, including the Bürgeramt and Standesamt. The municipal library extends across all floors of the new building, creating a continuous public program throughout the structure. In the basement, a dedicated children’s library opens onto a reading courtyard, establishing a direct relationship between interior learning spaces and outdoor public space.

The competition-winning proposal by HENN and C.F. Møller Architects envisions a major expansion of the Hannover Medical School campus. Their design focuses on creating a highly efficient and sustainable healthcare environment while also improving the overall experience for patients, staff, and the surrounding community.
Rather than just adding a hospital building, the project introduces a cohesive “urban block” that integrates seamlessly with the existing university site. It aims to balance functionality—like optimized workflows and modern medical infrastructure—with a more welcoming, human-centered atmosphere, making the campus feel open and accessible rather than purely clinical.

JSWD consolidated the building’s diverse functions into a single, cube-like volume that feels both dignified and inviting. Its appearance shifts depending on the viewpoint, a result of the strong vertical divisions inherited from the original halls. This rhythmic vertical articulation of the façade helps Confex integrate seamlessly with the surrounding trade fair buildings.

Frankenberg is a small German town in northern Hesse, near Marburg, with a historic town center. Not far from the old town, the Ederberglandhalle, built in the 1980s, serves as an event and conference center for the entire region.

With its pronounced relief and sculptural composition of projecting bay windows, green terraces, and expansive openings, the façade introduces a fresh accent within the historic ensemble while still echoing the site’s layered architectural heritage. Rising seven storeys, the building integrates quietly into the area’s vibrant, creative neighbourhood.

Square 1 B is designed around a highly flexible spatial concept. The individual building sections can function independently or be combined to accommodate a single tenant, depending on requirements. The proposed upgrade is guided by a clear principle: retain as much of the existing fabric as possible while preserving its architectural character. At the same time, the original urban concept is reactivated, with the “Learning Street” from the 1970s once again forming a central east–west spine through the campus.

With a walkout basement set into a slope, the two-storey hybrid-timber building forms an architectural focal point which pays almost perfect homage to the ambitiously modelled terrain, while ensuring the mature tree population is retained. The building’s rotation creates a forecourt as a transition area leading to the day-care centre’s protected grounds.

The Hyparschale in Magdeburg, built in 1969 to a design by Ulrich Müther, was ceremonially reopened on June 20. After standing vacant for over twenty years, and following the commission by the authorities of the state capital of Magdeburg, the badly dilapidated concrete shell structure was comprehensively restored and converted from 2019 to 2024 to plans by gmp · von Gerkan, Marg and Partners Architects.

The building aims to promote innovation and creativity to generate new forms of work in both the city of Cottbus and the surrounding Lausitz region in the wake of the political decision to phase out coal nationwide. Located next to the campus of the Brandenburg Institute of Technology (BTU), it concentrates tech start-up activities in a single center while adding another resourceful community building to the city.

The compact cubic volume opens toward both the campus and the city through two deeply cut atria, framed by the staggered, cantilevered arrangement of the upper floors. Daylight streams through the glazed atrium roofs, drawing natural light deep into the building’s core.

Soon it will belong entirely to the citizens: at the beginning of May, the “Neue Mitte” in Mitwitz will be opened. The planning and implementation of the special wooden pavilion were in the hands of teachers and students of the Faculty of Design at Coburg University of Applied Sciences.

To the east, the building opens toward the main entrance, where employees, students, and visitors enter the Opticum through a generous lobby conceived as a central communication hub. The consistent façade design unifies the three buildings into a single visual composition. From one of them, a slender vertical tower rises, seemingly hovering above a transparent glass foyer. At 28 storeys and over 100 metres tall, the high-rise establishes a strong presence, anchoring the office complex within the city skyline.

The two new buildings are defined by a black façade and loft-style windows that reference the site’s industrial past. They are arranged around a listed villa—the former administrative headquarters of the Rhenania freight forwarding and relocation company from the 1920s.
