Newcastle United Stadium
Sports and leisure specialist GT3 Architects has led an internal design review, reimagining a state-of-the-art training academy and community-driven stadium for Newcastle United. Building on the company’s ‘people architecture’ ethos, the project is the first of several in-house design reviews, exploring how people-centric design can tackle cultural and socio-economic challenges, such as driving inward investment and economic footfall, getting more people active, supporting an aging population, and achieving net-zero targets.

2014 World Cup Football Stadium
The unusual Arena´s bowl footprint, with four open corners, is the result of a design strategy allowing the solution of many issues, such as Arena capacity flexibility after 2014 Word-Cup and local environment. Since the pitch needs to be built in a strict North/South orientation, to avoid glare on cameras during TV matches transmission, to optimize the natural wind flow and ventilation, the bowl corners were chopped out and substituted by landscaped open areas.

Kiev Football Stadium
The new design for the reconstruction of the building respects the historic fabric with its important filigree prestressed concrete upper tier built in 1968, the frame of the new roof structure being detached and placed clear of the existing bowl. This most distinctive feature is therefore being encased in a new filigree glass façade and will be duly illuminated with appropriate lighting.
