It has been two years since George Osborne announced his “devolution revolution”, however, what does the Northern Powerhouse mean for business?

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has just released a survey of small businesses, looking into the current perception of the plan, with the majority of companies expecting the Northern Powerhouse to have a positive impact upon their business.
Mike Cherry, Policy Director at the FSB said “The concept and goals of the Northern Powerhouse have gained widespread support and awareness among businesses across Northern England – but we now need to see tangible delivery and results for this support to continue and grow.”
Two of the main priorities for the plan to succeed, according to this survey, centred around investment in workplace skills and inter-city transport links, such as the proposed HS3 route to compliment the on-going HS2 project.
Policy Director at the House Builders Association, Rico Wojtulewicz recently spoke with us about the importance of the plan. “The Northern Powerhouse will change Britain forever and allow us to take further control of our prosperity. In order to understand how we do that, North England Build brings together some of the most dynamic voices from the construction industry to identify problems, offer solutions, and start dialogue.”
Mr. Wojtulewicz will be participating in North England Build’s main conference, which is set to cover key topics affecting the construction industry across the north of England, such as the impact of the Northern Powerhouse, improving the skills shortage and affordable housing.
North England Build is the leading construction show in the north of England and will feature 100+ exhibitors from across the industry, including keey players such as Balfour Beatty, Bowmer & Kirkland and ICB. The exhibition and conference will be accompanied by 24 CPD accredited training workshops, giving visitors a chance to leave the event with new connections, new ideas and new skills.
The event is free to attend, however, tickets are allocated on a first come, first served basis, so sign up for free your ticket today at www.northenglandbuildexpo.com.
