Design: TETRO Arquitetura

Walkway House is divided into blocks scattered across the site so as not to interfere with the Atlantic Forest and to preserve the existing topography. These blocks are interconnected by wooden decks that cross each other without touching. The upper deck emerges from the back of the plot, in direct contact with the vegetation, traverses the entire house and, as the ground level drops toward the front, it transforms into a walkway nine meters above the ground, aligning itself with the treetops.
The 158 m² residence is organized into three horizontal volumes distributed over two floors, in the city of Brumadinho, 30 minutes from Belo Horizonte. Set into a steep site with a 45º slope, the house was designed with minimal earthworks, avoiding any cuts that would require retaining walls. The project prioritizes the preservation of native trees and takes special account of the strong presence of jacaranda trees that weave through the spaces.
The main bedroom faces the forest, where there are no neighbors, and this relationship is reinforced by a large window that frames the landscape. Circulation between the blocks takes place via glass walkways without walls, allowing constant visual contact with the surrounding nature while moving from one room to another.
