Lagoa Seca Mining
Investigating the potencials of artificial topographies resulted from open-pit mining, the design proposes a radical intervention in a huge pit located within the limits of Belo Horizonte.
The new Center for Environmental Education is like a set of large “beam-buildings” that cross the pit span and praise the sculptural void where they are inserted.
The project takes part of a broader municipal Urban-Integrated Operation, which ranges from a nearby city slum to a listed green area along a ridge.
