America Architectural Designs – latest building updates
Iowa Architecture
We’ve selected what we feel are the key examples of Iowa Building Developments, United States of America. We aim to include projects that are either of top quality or interesting, or ideally both.
We cover completed buildings, new building designs, architectural exhibitions and architecture competitions across the state. The focus is on contemporary Iowa buildings but information on traditional buildings is also welcome.

University of Iowa
The School of Art & Art History at the University of Iowa, which opened in September 2006, was awarded in the RIBA International Awards for successfully negotiating its site at the crossing of two orthogonal paths in the campus, at a place where the city grid is interrupted by natural landscape in the form of a small lagoon and a limestone bluff. The jury writes “This engagement with the conditions of the elements of the site is one of the scheme’s most striking aspects. It feels like this would be a very good place in which to make and study art.”
