Frank Lloyd Wright’s Final Home For Sale
Date built: 1959-67
The final home that Frank Lloyd Wright designed has just gone on sale.
Norman Lykes Home For Sale
This curvaceous 20th Century Arizona residence is a good example of the architect’s late-career style, exemplified by the David and Gladys Wright home, reports curbed.com.
The asking price is $3.6 million, and includes the original furniture.

A series of concentric circles set on a desert plateau, the home, which looks like a set of intricate clock gears from above. The organic design contextually references the mountainous landscape.
The home was designed for Norman and Aimee Lykes in 1959, but only completed in 1967.

The property has a strong view of Palm Canyon and all the bedrooms face the valley.
It was the last sketch he would finish before passing away in April 1959; his apprentice John Rattenbury, with whom he consulted with before he passed away, finished the design and oversaw construction of the home on the original site, completing in 1967.

The interior was revised for a previous owner by Rattenbury in 1994: alterations included an enlarged master bedroom and home theatre converted from the workshop.

The property will be transferred to an Arizona not-for-profit organization responsible for the restoration, maintenance and operation of the David Wright House. The change in ownership guarantees that the house will survive and be preserved. We expect city Landmark designation to follow shortly but there is no longer a demolition threat. We will also pursue long-term protections for the house.”
