Venice Biennale curators interview
A short video interview with Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, Curators of the Biennale Architettura 2018:
PLANE—SITE spoke to its curators Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara about this edition’s theme, Freespace. They move beyond architecture as an object, instead imagining Freespace as an invitation to think about architecture as a space of opportunities. Literally and metaphorically, Freespace presents environments of generosity, accessibility and freedom and celebrates the rich civic experience that they create.

Venue: Palazzo Mora
Dates: 26 May – 25 November 2018
Times: 10:00~18:00,Closed on Tuesdays

Liyang Museum, with the concept of floating melodies, shows the beauty of oriental melody, and finally completes a very progressive natural building. In order to let people cross the park, the building is divided into two bodies. The lower body and the city park form the shape of mountain which becomes the functional part of museum. The upper body and the sky interact with each other and fused into cloud-like shape for urban planning. Museum’s functions combine PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE into one spirit of space. The space between two bodies creates a freespace for citizens and constitute additional space for the city.
The GAA Foundation is a Dutch non-profit organisation that aims to heighten the awareness about the more philosophical themes in contemporary art, architecture and in culture in general. In particular, they promote the theme: “Time – Space – Existence”, making this subject matter more accessible to a wider international audience.
