14th of July 2008 – The Headquarters Tower is 18 months from completion. The core has now reached its maximum height of 34 levels with the floor plates completed to level 25. The services installation began in December 2007 and the fit out is due to begin in August 2008.

Zaha Hadid was selected to design the building in November 2004 and it became her first built tower. It is intended to interact with other landmarks of the city including the Château d’If and the basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde, which stands taller than the tower on a rocky outcrop. Built by Vinci subsidiary GTM Construction, the building has 20 lifts to service its 33 floors and was completed in September 2011.

ZHA describe the building thus, “Rising in a metallic curving arc that slowly lifts and accelerates skywards into the dramatic vertical geometry of its revolutionary forms. With its ultimate coordinate 142.8 metres above the ground, a gateway to the city from both land and sea, an iconic vertical element that interacts with Marseille’s other significant landmarks.”
