Ennead Architects broke ground last week on construction of the expansion of the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM), one of the fastest-growing art museums in North America, located in Salem, Massachusetts. It is part of one of the largest art museum campaigns in the country.

Powerhouse Student Event Space, Amherst College

Amherst College engaged Bruner/Cott to create a student gathering and event space in a tactful but raw reworking of their historic 1925 McKim Mead & White steam plant. The existing classic form with its industrial interior was reconfigured to accommodate performances, dance parties, speakers and other student gatherings. Lighting and sound systems with flexible furniture concepts support this broad range of activities.

General Electric HQ Building in Boston

This 12-story glass building has a sail-like solar panel ‘veil’ on top plus an illuminated GE logo. It is connected to two renovated brick warehouses.
The new headquarters complex overlooks Boston’s Fort Point Channel and has a maritime theme.

This ambitious project enables Lesley University to relocate the College of Art and Design from its Kenmore Square site in Boston to a unified campus that stretches from the edge of Harvard Square into the heart of Porter Square. The project’s locus, at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Roseland Street, reinforces Lesley’s mission of uniting the arts across the university as well as its commitment to the City of Cambridge.

ENfold a 500′ glowing ribbon in Frederick Law Olmsted’s Evan’s Way Park, directly across from the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum, is currently under construction. The installation has already been recognized by the Boston Society of Architects, as it has been nominated to receive an 2013 Unbuilt Architecture Award.
