A real estate company’s corporate headquarters, located at the city’s highest traffic entrance, brings clarity and conciseness to an industrial transition area as a new landmark in this emerging district.

On the one hand this plateau is clearly separated from the town wall – whose character it consequently massively strengthens – by a distinct joint, while on the other hand it allows an unobstructed view into and across the Stadtpark in a way previously not possible.

Art-tunnel at Graz Main Train Station

Opening of a new underpass with a mega artwork at Graz Main Train Station. the building is being rebuilt by the end of 2015 to a modern transportation hub. The completion of the northern underpass, designed by Zechner & Zechner architects with a 150 meters long artwork by Peter Kogler allows a new access to the station and represents a further milestone in the realization of the project.

The ground surface, the horizontal platform upon which most of our movements in the city occur, is very rarely the generating argument or the spatial support of a project. Perhaps as a result of that yearn for an identity that every new intervention seems to demand, architecture has tended to express itself throughout history by means of objects, volumes that have often established a difficult relationship with the scale of the urban environment in which they were inserted.
