Rethinking urban mobility: “For Living, Not Working.”
Urban transport spaces are undergoing a period of significant transformation. Over the next decade, these traditionally predictable hubs—once primarily serving commuters travelling to and from the city on fixed schedules—are expected to evolve in response to shifting behaviours, emerging technologies, and changing user expectations.
As a result, urban mobility systems are being reimagined to become more flexible, responsive, and user-centred, reflecting broader changes in how people live, work, and move within cities.

Powerhouse Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Sydney, NSW
Design: Lahznimmo Architects
Powerhouse Castle Hill represents a significant shift in museum practice, focusing on greater accessibility to collections and deeper engagement with local communities.
As part of the broader philosophy of the Powerhouse Museum, the facility brings rarely seen objects out of storage and archival spaces, allowing visitors to engage directly with one of Australia’s most significant applied arts and sciences collections, comprising over half a million objects. This approach transforms how collections are experienced, fostering stronger public connection to cultural and scientific heritage.

Basalt Boutique Tourist Accommodation, NSW
Architects: Cameron Anderson Architects
The buildings feature angled walls that fan across the site, carefully arranged to provide privacy for each individual unit while also framing expansive views of the surrounding countryside and the distant town of Orange.
The composition uses heavy, slanted wall forms to anchor the structures into the landscape, grounding them physically and visually. At the same time, these elements rise and open towards the horizon, capturing long-range vistas and reinforcing a strong dialogue between built form and rural setting.

Blok Point Lookout, Queensland
Architect: Blok Modular
The scheme is designed to remain consistent with the original scale and character of a modest, lightweight beach house, while carefully balancing shared living spaces with areas of privacy.
Rather than reading as a series of typical multi-storey units, the project is intentionally expressed as a single, cohesive two-storey dwelling. This approach maintains clarity in form and scale, ensuring the development remains sensitive to its coastal context while supporting a more communal yet comfortable way of living.

Design: Cameron Anderson Architects

The brief was to deliver a unique, off-grid tourism accommodation experience for couples on a large working property in the Liverpool Plains region of New South Wales, while also helping to position Quirindi as an emerging tourism destination.
The building is designed to operate independently of conventional services, incorporating off-grid solar power and extensive rainwater harvesting and reuse systems. This self-sufficient approach supports both environmental sustainability and a remote, immersive visitor experience within the rural landscape.

The Milldam, Port Sorell, Tasmania
Architects: Starbox Architecture
Milldam House is conceived around the concept of “Rugged Luxury,” a design approach that directly responds to the shifting character of the adjacent tidal estuary.
The architecture reflects the dramatic duality of the landscape: at low tide, the exposed estuary reveals a raw, textured and rugged terrain, while at high tide the space transforms into an expansive body of water, creating a clean, reflective surface. This cyclical natural condition informs the building’s materiality, atmosphere, and spatial experience, embedding the house deeply within its coastal context.

Carrickalinga Shed, Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia
Architects: Architects Ink

photos : by Thurston Empson and Corey Roberts
The premise was an interpretation of an Australian Federation Farmhouse, sited on a hilltop in Carrickalinga. With extreme winds, we manipulated the traditional farmhouse, stretching the perimeter to a square, whilst removing the center for the courtyard.
