Built to resemble smashed up guitars, there are no right angles on the exterior of the EMP. The building was financed by Multi-Billionaire and Seattleite Paul Allen. The “Sky Church” was a tribute to Seattle native, Jimi Hendrix.
The building is also home to the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame which opened in 2004. About 3,000 panels with more than 21,000 shingles cover the exterior. The 64-foot-high atrium of the Sky Church features a 40-by-70-foot LED screen.
Address: 325 5th Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109, United States of America
Contact: Telephone +1 206-770-2700
The museum is easily accessible by car, numerous bus routes, and the historic Seattle Center Monorail, built in 1962 for the Seattle World’s Fair. The Monorail departs every 10 minutes from the station at Seattle Center, and from Westlake Center Mall, at 5th and Pine Street.
