SCI-Arc Main Event Gala and Spring Show Preview Return April 27th
Los Angeles, CA (March 1, 2019) – SCI-Arc is thrilled to announce programming for the 2019 Main Event gala—an eclectic evening of food, drink, music, and an exclusive preview of the thirteenth annual Spring Show, curated this year by SCI-Arc Faculty Damjan Jovanovic, Angelica Lorenzi, and Alexey Marfin.
Each spring, SCI-Arc Main Event brings together leading philanthropists, business leaders, and distinguished alumni with luminaries from the worlds of art, design, and architecture in Los Angeles to celebrate SCI-Arc’s reputation as a world-renowned center for innovation.
Net proceeds from Main Event directly benefit the SCI-Arc Scholarship Endowment, helping to ensure that the incomparable educational opportunities at SCI-Arc remain accessible to the most talented and committed students across the globe. This year’s generous sponsors include Gilmore Associates, STUN (SCI-Arc Student Union), AEG, BDO, Bestor Architecture, Tim Disney, Johnson Fain, Nike, Perkins + Will, Abby Sher, U.S. Bank and Walter P. Moore.
SCI-Arc’s thirteenth annual Spring Show features work selected from every program. Undergraduate, Graduate, and Postgraduate design studio projects, as well as coursework from the Applied, Cultural, and Visual Studies seminars, will be exhibited in themed environments throughout the school, accompanied by the upbeat, celebratory sounds of DJ Post Geography (artist and musician Nick Malkin). Guests of Main Event will be the first to explore the stunning range of work across media and materiality while enjoying a full open bar and alimentary fare from some of LA’s most widely-chased food trucks:
Founded and operating out of East Los Angeles, Plant Food for People offers distinctive vegan takes on familiar LA street food favorites.
Prince of Venice represents dishes from various regions of Italy with specialties such as pasta from the traditional recipes of Italian royalty and custom vegetarian options.
Jogasaki Sushi Burrito fuses unique sushi combinations with on-the-go styles such as tacos, nachos, burritos, and more.
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream makes traditional four-ingredient ice cream in both classic and decadent, experimental flavors, along with a full vegan menu.
