Sky Pool at Embassy Gardens in London
Over the past year teams of architects, engineers and consultants have been busy testing and developing the pool structure in its factory in Colorado, USA.
The innovative pool is pushing boundaries in the capability of construction and engineering and will be a feat of engineering, never seen before.
It is an intricate and challenging process for which we have some of the best minds in the world working together to accomplish.
The stunning outdoor pool will link two residential buildings at the 10th storey – a world first – and allow residents to swim from one building to the next.
The sky deck at the top of the two buildings incorporates a spa, summer bar and Orangery for residents to relax and take in the views of London icons which include the Houses of Parliament, London Eye and new US Embassy located next door.
The pool is entirely transparent, 25m long, 5m wide and 3m deep with a water depth of 1.2m.
Designed by Arup Associates, with specialist input from Eckersley O’Callaghan and aquarium designers Reynolds, the experience is intended to be more akin to an aquarium than a pool.
The acrylic is now in its final phase of construction and is currently undergoing its final testing and treatments before it will be prepared for shipping to the UK, itself a lengthy and complex process.
The pool is expected to arrive at Embassy Gardens next Summer, when this vision becomes a reality. We will then need to lift and secure the structure in place and complete works on the Sky Deck but the pool will be open next Summer.

– EcoWorld Ballymore release new Sky Pool images –
LONDON: 31st May 2017 – On 3rd June 2017 EcoWorld Ballymore will release 25 apartments for sale which will overlook the world famous Sky Pool at their landmark Embassy Gardens development. The new one and two bedroom homes, located on the 10th floor or higher, offer residents luxury living in the heart of the Nine Elms regeneration area, with prices starting from £1million. As part of the launch, a number of garden apartments will also be available for purchase, starting from £650,000.
Overlooking the pool deck, the signature apartments will take full advantage of the iconic Embassy Gardens Sky Pool – a world-first in swimming pool design. The pool is entirely transparent and structure free, 25m long, 5m wide and 3m deep with a water depth of 1.2m.
Designed by Arup Associates, with specialist input from Eckersley O’Callaghan and aquarium designers Reynolds, the experience is intended to replicate that of an aquarium, providing a totally unique view of the capital. At 10 storeys high, the pool links two residential buildings and allows residents to swim from one building to the next.
A private sky-deck will sit atop the two buildings, providing an enviable vantage point and incorporating a spa, summer bar and Orangery where residents can relax and take in views of London’s iconic skyline. Health and wellbeing are central to the development; apartments are designed to provide a tranquil and relaxing living environment and a variety of green and open spaces across the development include intimate garden squares and a private ravine. All communal areas will be beautifully landscaped, incorporating wildflowers and foliage to create a place of respite for residents.
The ground floor green spaces sit within the new linear park, which will form a green ribbon for the area, linking Vauxhall to Battersea Park via Embassy Garden’s Union Square. The development is just a 10 minute walk from Vauxhall Station providing prime connectivity with the capital and beyond. Transport links will undergo further improvement with the extension of the Northern Line, which will see the opening of two new stations at Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station.
In total the development will provide nearly 2,000 new homes for Londoners and the first phase of the development is already complete and occupied. The homes are designed with an ethos of craftsmanship at their core, with interior details handcrafted from high quality materials such as light-coloured oak, marble and black granite. Taking influence from Soho-loft style living and ensuring high quality finishes in every apartment, natural light will flood the apartments through floor to ceiling glass windows and open plan design creates a sense of space.
Residents will become members of the EG:LE club, an exclusive private members club which raises the bar on residential development amenities in London. The completed facilities include a private screening room, gym, yoga studio, therapy room, traditional library, lounge area and business suite – when complete residents will also have access to the world famous Sky Pool.
