Blackfriars Railway Bridge
As part of the Thameslink Programme, the platforms at Blackfriars station were extended across the Thames and partially supported by the 1864 bridge piers. The project was designed by Jacobs and Tony Gee & Partners. The bridge has the first train platform on the River Thames. It also has a roof covered with photovoltiac solar panels – the largest of only two solar bridges in the world (the other being Kurilpa Bridge in Australia). Other green improvements include sun pipes and systems to collect rain water.

Hay’s Galleria
– major riverside tourist attraction on the Jubilee Walk is situated on the south bank of the River Thames. Originally a warehouse and associated wharf (Hay’s Wharf) for the port of London, it was redeveloped as a visitor attraction in the 1980s.

– enclosing the entire space with a roof, reminiscent of the Victorian railway termini of the same period, to create the galleria
