This building was designed as a home for a couple and their two children. The site is located on a quiet residential corner surrounded by an apartment complex and a golf course, with three sides facing roads except for the south.

Currently, the area is a mix of vacant lots and houses, but it will gradually be filled with houses.
The camping caravan on the vacant lot evokes the image of a family who enjoys nature and camping.
I envisioned a house that would embody such a warm and joyful family life. To maximize the site’s potential, I created boundaries with the surrounding area and enclosed the outer perimeter with walls.

Inside the walls, we created large and small outdoor spaces and arranged planting and living areas.
This is to maintain a certain distance from the surroundings to protect the family’s privacy while creating an environment where the living spaces feel surrounded by nature.

Each outdoor space serves as a terrace or garden, wrapping around the living spaces. Upon entering the building, sunlight filters through the upper gaps, and a garden adorned with natural stone and wood welcomes those who enter.

Surrounded by walls, the garden has an appropriate level of brightness, neither too bright nor too dark, creating a calm atmosphere that soothes the bustling daily life outside.

A small courtyard between the living room and kitchen naturally divides the two spaces with different characters, drawing light, rain, and winter snow deep into the interior.

The outdoor space makes the bathroom comfortable, and the path leading from the kitchen to the guest room feels like walking through a forest.

Each room on the second floor has its own outdoor space. The natural light coming in through the glass walls is sufficient and comfortable, and the indoor space connected to the terrace feels open and airy.
The second-floor terrace, which connects to the courtyard of the first-floor living room and has plants growing from the floor in front of the first-floor bathroom, is organically connected to the first floor, creating a dynamic and varied space.

The small hall between the children’s rooms serves as a hidden shared space for the family, where they can enjoy a drink, sip coffee in peace, or read, each using it according to their own preferences.
The walls separating the rooms on both sides are made of lightweight, adjustable drywall rather than solid concrete, allowing for future changes in family composition and spatial layout.

The diverse plantings and varied indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the house inform the family of seasonal and natural changes, transforming the home into a camping ground tailored exclusively for the four family members.
