NIRLON KNOWLEDGE PARK WINS INTERNATIONAL PROPERTY AWARD
Nirlon Knowledge Park has won the Asia Pacific 2012 Award in the commercial: renovation/ redevelopment category at the International Property Awards. The park, in Mumbai, India is a former factory complex that has been transformed into a highly sustainable and high-density park-like campus where up to 20,000 people will work. The park was designed by BDP Khandekar, the Dutch studio of BDP, which was responsible for the vision, masterplanning and landscaping.
Shyam Khandekar, Chairman of BDP’s Dutch and Indian studios, attended the award ceremony and conference in Kuala Lumpur to receive the award alongside the Nirlon client. In the initial round, of the three Indian projects nominated in the category, Nirlon Knowledge Park was announced as the winner from India. In the next round, Nirlon was up against two other national winners, one from Malaysia and the other from Singapore with Nirlon finally winning the overall Asia Pacific Award in its category.
Later in the year, the winners in each category from the six different regions of the world will compete for the World’s Best Award.
Shyam said of the award: “We are thrilled to win such a prestigious award in the company of such well-established names from the building and development industry. For this relatively young developer, to win a prize with its first project is a fantastic achievement for Nirlon and one of which BDP are also proud.”
