Kaffee Partner Buildings Osnabrück
Following the international award-winning Leonardo Glass Cube 3deluxe have once again completed a piece of corporate architecture with an ambitious design and expressive formal language. The client was Kaffee Partner, a leading supplier of commercially used coffee brewing machines in Germany. In February 2012, following a construction period of just 16 months, a 100-metre tripartite building complex with 9,800 sqm of floor space was completed on an area of 28,600 sqm in Osnabrück.

The extremely cost-effective design unites the aesthetic impact of a sculptural architectural object with the efficient functionality of commercial buildings. The concept for the administration tract aimed to harmoniously integrate the logistics hall and workshop in the building complex, which has previously been planned by the Osnabrück-based engineering association igk Krabbe GmbH & Co. KG.

Individually produced elements hanging in front of the façade proved to be the solution; their flowing forms expressing the vitality, lightness, and power of innovation that are Kaffee Partner’s corporate values. The colour concept for the architecture and interior design of the new headquarters combines white as the main colour with near-natural hues from the world of coffee and here too helps create an holistic image of the company.

Curved shaped ribbons on the façade, made of 150 individually fabricated white concrete elements, merge the three building parts of the headquarters to a harmonious ensemble. Their fluid outlines conceal the orthogonal grid of the concrete skeleton construction buildings and lend the architecture an impression of dynamics. It culminates in the animated, vertically staggered composition of the administration wing: With its ceiling slabs, differently shaped and cantilevered on each floor, the corner building of the complex represents a prominent eye-catcher.

Besides the façade design for the entire ensemble and the architecture of the administration and customer service wing, 3deluxe’s scope of planning includes also parts of the interior finish. Following a holistic design approach, the executive suite in the penthouse and the semi-public forum could be equipped with custom-made furniture and high-end fittings that continue the architectural language.

Taken as a whole, the new Kaffee Partner corporate headquarters represent a friendly and contemporary working world for the some 300 employees of the medium-sized company, its clients and the inhabitants of Osnabrück – a world, in which architecture and design are an indispensable element of a product and corporate culture that is authentically lived out.

New Corporate Architecture by 3deluxe
Having completed the internationally awarded Leonardo Glass Cube, 3deluxe are planning another ambitious corporate architecture. The client is KaffeePartner, a leading supplier of commercially used coffee brewing machines in Germany. On an area of 28,600sqm in Osnabrück’s city centre a 100m, tripartite building complex with a floor space of 9,800sqm will be realised by the end of 2011. The design unites the evident impact of a sculptural architectural object with the efficient functionality of commercial buildings.
Shape and colouring of the pearly-white ensemble of office and industrial buildings create an impression of playful lightness and dynamics. Asymmetrically curved ribbons on the façade which fluently merge all architectural elements with each other conceal the orthogonal grid of the concrete skeleton construction which lies behind them. These freely meandering shapes are composed of individually fabricated concrete elements, which makes it possible to reduce construction related joints to a minimum.
The ceiling slabs of the southern administration wing, differently shaped and cantilevered on each floor, create an animated, horizontally staggered composition. The four-storey head building was positioned on the south-eastern corner of the plot as a prominent eye-catcher.
It is not only the visual, but also the functional centrepiece of the L-shaped complex. In addition to individual offices and conference rooms its space programme also includes the boardroom floor which is located in a penthouse mounted on the roof terrace.
The two-storey forum attached on the north side was conceived as a semi-public space. Located here are the visitor entrance of the company headquarters, accessible over a private driveway, the access to an atmospheric brand world with a product related exhibition, a cafeteria and several small lounges. A multimedia presentation relates interesting facts about coffee.
The forum as a central meeting point – as an architectural realisation of the common centre – fosters, in addition to the public image of the company, also its corporate culture and internal communication. Employees enter the forum at the vertex of the two wings, directly above the recreation terrace reserved for them, and from there continue to the various workplaces. Into the efficiently designed floor plans of administration, workshop and warehouse small recreation zones were incorporated as places of informal exchange. A functional room is available for in-house events and trainings.
References to the core business of the corporation with the natural product coffee can also be found on an associative level, like for example in the organically inspired formal language of the façade design or in the interior colour scheme.
In order to enable the public to experience Kaffee Partner’s product and corporate culture, the construction of an architecturally striking Coffee DriveThru is intended for the second planning stage. Because it conveys the competence and the spirit of innovation of the company in such a vivid manner, the expressive architecture of the new corporate headquarters will establish itself as an essential part of Kaffee Partner’s brand communication.
