New High-rise Building in Düsseldorf

Project team: Andre Santer, Dr. Paul Angelier, Max Margorskyi, Marta Ramirez Iglesias, Jens Seiffert
Location: Düsseldorf Heerdt, Germany
Structure: Concrete structure
Principal Exterior: Aluminum Elements
Principal interior material: concrete and plasterboard, water-based cooling system inside the concrete, no air-conditioning needed

In the immediate vicinity of the extensive landscape of the Rheinauen and within sight of the inner city of Düsseldorf, a high-rise project is created which, through its architecture and utilization, characterizes the left-Rhine silhouette.

The facades are designed as cloud-shaped horizontal waves that envelop the building like a dress and give it a light, sculptural character. The three-dimensional, perforated and semi-transparent façade elements control the views and insights and protect against the sun and wind. The greening of the terraces and balconies improves the microclimate and, in connection with the generous open spaces adjoining the site, creates a natural atmosphere.

The historic hospital area is to be further developed by the establishment of residential, medical-oriented commercial uses as well as by the development of new, high-quality residential development. For example, stores for medical needs, medical practices and a level with operating rooms are being built in the building base. In addition, there are 14 residential days, the ground plans of which allow for different apartment types and sizes, and respond in their formulation consistently to the location of the property. From the upper floors, an impressive panorama view opens up far beyond the city of Düsseldorf.

In direct proximity to the sweeping landscape of the Rheinaue and with a view of Düsseldorf’s city center, this high rise will form the silhouette of the left bank of the Rhine, not only in terms of its architecture, but in terms of use as well.

The façades are designed as cloud-shaped, horizontal waves that shroud the building like a gown, lending it a light, sculptural character. The three-dimensional, perforated, and semi-transparent façade elements direct views inside and out and protect from the sun and wind. The planting of the terraces and balconies will improve the microclimate and provide a natural atmosphere in combination with the adjacent generously open spaces.

The spirit of historical hospital grounds. The bottom of the building will be the retail outlets for medical goods, doctors’ offices, and a floor with surgical practices. On top of this, To the location of the plot. The upper floors open to an impressive panorama view beyond the Dusseldorf city limits.

New High-rise Building in Düsseldorf

We are proud to announce our winning the RKM740 competition for a new high-rise building in Duesseldorf, Germany.

Design development already began in late 2013, and completion is scheduled in 2017.
In direct proximity to the sweeping landscape of the Rheinaue and with a view of Düsseldorf’s city center, this high rise will shape the silhouette of the left bank of the Rhine, not only in terms of its architecture, but in terms of use as well.

The spirit of historical hospital grounds will be continued in combining medical-commercial uses with new, quality residential construction.

The base of the building will house retail outlets for medical goods, doctors’ offices, and a floor with surgical practices. On top of this, 14 residential floors will rise featuring floor plans and sizes that allow for various residential concepts with an orientation that responds to the location of the plot.

The main daytime and outdoor spaces will be oriented toward the south, east, and west, while subordinate use spaces like kitchens and bathrooms face north. The arrangement of the spaces allows both for modern, generous, and flowing spatial arrangements and classical solutions with closed rooms.
