The Hainan Science Museum, designed by Ma Yansong/MAD Architects, is steadily advancing through its construction phases. The project, which began its design phase in 2020, broke ground in November 2021 and reached the completion of its main structure in June 2023.

The oracle bone inscription “Shu” represents a fusion of “enlarged eyes” and a contorted body. Regarding the cultural artifacts discovered in Sanxingdui, the sculptures, crafted from diverse materials and featuring various “gaze patterns,” symbolize distinct personas.

The project sees MAD place a cluster of scattered wooden structures above the dense greens and clear waters of the ancient landscape.

Xu Wei Art Museum and Qingteng Square are a very important part of our practice project in Shaoxing Ancient City, and also a key action in the urban renewal plan of “Seeing Qingteng Again”. As the main venue for the “500th Anniversary of Xu Wei’s Birth and the Opening Ceremony of Xu Wei’s Hometown”, they were officially put into use in May 2021.

Wangwu Mountain National Geopark is typical texture which owns a series of special scientific significance, rarity and aesthetic value. It recorded the change process of the 2.5 billion – year – old north China sea and land in detail, and reflect the whole process of the hyperplasia, splicing and cracking of the ancient continent systematically.

Yuntai Mountain is covered with cloud and fog, which is well arranged and leaving a deep impression on people. The design takes the form of mountains as an intention, and uses a Chinese character “山”,which means mountain in English, as a metaphor of architecture, emphasizing the sense of place.

Dongting Lake Museum, namely Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone Planning Museum is a large-scale comprehensive museum building located in the cultural pavilion area of Dongting Lake Expo Park in Junshan District, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, on the east side of Tourist Road and the west bank of the Hao River.

The architect is by no means the dictator of building form – instead, the form of the museum is given collectively by dinosaurs from 80 million years ago, geologist on the excavation mission started in 2011 and the Architect. The morphology of the design roots in spatial distribution of the dinosaur eggs and vertical variation of the on-site topography.

The building is an integration of the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Arts and the Urban Planning Exhibition Halls. Surface materials of glass, perforated plate, and stone extend and twist along the steel structure, creating a complicated architecture full of vitality.

The Anhui Provincial Paleontological Fossils Museum and the Anhui Provincial New Museum are already built. RTA-Office was involved in the design of the third one, the Anhui Provincial Art Museum.
