Debis Building
Building C1 completes an arc of buildings that run along Alte Potsdamerstrasse.
The principal materials for the facades are terracotta tiles and glass.
The facade utilises a double curtain wall operating system, combining of transparent and opaque surfaces. These respond to the external environment but also to the personal needs of the occupants. The natural cooling/heating system reduces primary energy consumption by 50% compared with normally air-conditioned buildings.
Address: Marlene-Dietrich-Platz 3-5, Tiergarten
Location: south end of the Potsdamerplatz group
Buildings close by include:
Linkstrasse 6 Building design by British architect Richard Rogers (later this architectural office changed its name to RSHP).
Location: Eichhornstrasse 3, Berlin, Germany, western Europe
