The old wooden house, a single-story shophouse, has been replaced by a new house that needs to be expanded to meet the needs of the growing family. Dealing with a limitation of only 4m wide, and a disordered form of the land, to be challenging of design criteria, thinking about what the house would look like or even manage a narrow space and unpredictable mass that would still be able to divide the proportion of the extended family.

When two doctors, one from Chiangmai and the other from Petchabun, decided to settle down and start their family, they looked for a land with a mountain view. They finally found one — a two-rai (3,370 sqm) piece of land, originally used as a paddy field, located in the valley between parallel ranges of the Petchabun mountains.

The Suan Kachamudee project is a unique and cosy “boutique” resort located on the East Coast of Koh Samui Island in Chaweng Noi, Thailand. The project is located on a hill with a breath-taking view and with very strong constraints: a slope over 50%, large and numerous granite rocks, and lush vegetation. We developed the project around these constraints, taking advantage of each.
