VIVID VISITORS LEND THEIR FACE TO EMERGING MARTIN PLACE GIANT
19th May 2014 – People passing through Sydney’s CBD will lend their face to a submerged giant human head rising out of Martin Place during this year’s Vivid Sydney festival.
As part of Australia’s largest annual light festival, the Brisbane office of acclaimed design firm The Buchan Group has created e|MERGEnce – an innovative 3D light sculpture that projects viewers’ faces onto a giant head.
The installation gives visitors a unique look at themselves, with sculpture coming to life in real time thanks to the latest projection mapping and video captured interaction technology.
e|MERGEnce will be at Sydney’s Martin Place from 23 May to 9 June from 6pm each night.
The Buchan Group Senior Associate Anthony Rawson said e|MERGEnce would give Vivid visitors the chance to “embody” the physical sculpture and become part of the festival itself.
“e|MERGEnce plays on themes of scale, personality and realism, and invites the audience to see themselves as never before using amplified light, shade, texture and colour effects,” he said.
