Kempinski Hotel River Park in Bratislava opens in Spring 2010

Rotterdam, 23 February 2010 – The Kempinski Hotel River Park, beautifully located on the banks of the Danube river in Bratislava, will soon be opened. The luxury 5-star hotel is part of the Riverside development, a major inner-city redevelopment project designed by world-renowned Dutch architect Erick van Egeraat. Now that the River Park project has entered its final stage, the former exbition area of the Slovak capital is successfully being transformed into a luxury lifestyle hot spot.

River Park is an ambitious 150,000-m2 mixed-use project developed by J&T Real Estate. In addition to the Masterplan, Erick van Egeraat designed the River House residential building, the 5-star Kempinski Hotel River Park and the public spaces and promenade, a dynamic 2-kilometre walkway and a favourite public space of Bratislava citizens. The new waterfront complex adjacent to the 5-star hotel was realised under the supervision of Erick van Egeraat.

Located on the left bank of the Danube river within five minutes walking distance from downtown Bratislava, River Park will revitalize the area between the river and the historical city centre into a vibrant neighbourhood, reflecting a modern cosmopolitan lifestyle. In addition to the 263-room Kempinski Hotel, River Park will offer 25,000 m2 of class-A office space, more than 200 luxury apartments and top-segment retailing.

The centre block of the development, the River House residential building, hovers over the water, whilst offering spectacular views of the Danube river, and marks the area for all visitors and inhabitants arriving from the riverside or entering from the south by car, thus creating a unique landmark for this new city centre.

Evoking the words ‘elegant’, ‘exciting’ and ‘grand’, the adjacent Kempinski Hotel River Park will be Slovakia’s first 5-star hotel and will be the very picture of glamour, style and luxury. The L-shaped building encompasses 263 guest rooms housed on eight floors, restaurant and bar facilities, meeting rooms and a wellness centre, pool, sport area, relaxation, beauty and treatment zones. Situated in the water zone of River Park, the design connotes a sphinx rising monumentally from the smooth surface of the water, framed by the new waterfront complex (right) and the River House luxury apartment complex (left).

By combining the ultimate in functionality with a complex and rich design with a strong local identity, the Hotel Kempinski River Park design embodies the style, nobility and efficiency that the Kempinski Hotels & Resorts group has been renowned for for over 100 years.

“Unlike other European capital cities, Bratislava obtained the status of a capital city just a few years ago. With the new state-of-the-art waterfront development the city is rapidly catching up,” Erick van Egeraat comments. “River Park significantly adds value to the city. Slovakia’s beautiful capital now offers a unique mix of imperial and modern architecture and is finally enjoying the quality of the riverfront to its fullest.”
