It is located close to the railway station, just a little south west, right in the heart of the city. If you are going to the castle it is right at the base of the hill. The rear of the shopping centre is ugly, massive scale masonry with damp patches, grey and foreboding – a change is needed, demolition would be a great option. However the renewal at the front by BDP is more appealing in its hi-tech garb.

Buildings close to the Thistles Centre include Stirling Castle, Albert Halls, Stirling Tolbooth, Stirling Municipal Buildings, The Steeple Stirling and Old Viewforth.

Refurbishment and modernisation of The Thistle Centre was by architects BDP – Building Design Partnership – including mall finishes, specialist rooflights and feature entrances.
