An 80 metre infinity edged swimming pool built out over the Adriatic terminated with a Jaume Plensa sculpture provided a spectacular new centre piece to the new ‘Lido Mar’ building and a new venue. The structure was designed to sit inside an existing ex–Yugoslavian Navy submarine dry dock at a new marina development set within the dramatic bay of Kotor on the Adriatic coast.

The structure of the lodges will be carved into the sandstone cliffs, utilizing the existing geological geometries of the rock to devise the form. Other structures are comprised of rammed earth and cement mixed with the local red sand.

The masterplan has a richly layered grain, comprising a series of clustered communities with private courtyards and narrow, winding streets that fuse seamlessly with an efficient transport and road network extending across the site. The beaches will be improved to the highest resort standards and the creek extended, with hotels, restaurants and a pedestrian route concentrated along the waterfront.
