11 December 2025
World-renowned architect, Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, visited The Red Sea this week – Red Sea Global’s (RSG) flagship regenerative luxury destination in Saudi Arabia.

This significant visit underscores the deep collaboration between Foster + Partners, a key design partner in shaping several of the destination’s iconic resorts, and RSG’s pioneering vision for sustainable development and regenerative tourism.
During his visit, Lord Foster experienced firsthand the architectural marvels his team brought to life, from the innovative Red Sea International Airport (on track to become carbon-neutral and powered by 100% renewables), to the stunning Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and the unique overwater pods of Sheybarah Resort.
Lord Foster travelled by seaplane and helicopter with RSG’s CEO John Pagano, offering panoramic views that highlight the destination’s seamless integration with its pristine natural environment.

Lord Foster shared his impression of how the architectural vision translates into reality:
“The art of visualisation is very sophisticated, when you photograph the result, and you compare it with the renderings, it’s difficult to tell which is which – but in the end nothing prepares you for the actual experience of any building, and this one in particular.”
He further elaborated on The Red Sea’s unique sensitivity to its surroundings and local culture:
“While arriving by seaplane and looking down, you see these shell-like forms, so it’s very gentle in the landscape and the seascape. I think the difference between The Red Sea and others is kind of cultural difference – it is of the desert, and growing out of the desert – and that, I think, makes it very special.”
Lord Foster’s comments emphasise RSG’s commitment to creating architectural masterpieces that not only define luxury, but also champion regenerative tourism, innovative design, and a deep respect for the local culture and breathtaking natural landscapes. Furthermore, they set apart Red Sea Global, homegrown in Saudi Arabia, as a global leader in regenerative luxury that is setting new benchmarks in sustainable and culturally rich development, guided by some of the world’s leading architectural minds.
