Warsaw High School Building
The complex submerged in the landscape is a peculiar enclave of the nature, culture, science and sport. Ancient forest scenery inspired to produce a soft, nearly organic inherent part of the green environment. In the western plot part complete sport facilities were situated.
The building comprises four functions, each of those could constitute a separate usable space. They are: the cultural centre with a theatre, the library and the sport area. The functions are so integrated in one building that each of them seems independent. The 70-metre brick wall is a characteristic and distinguishing mark. The ribbon-like facade weaving between the trees is a major architectural accent of the building, blending it organically with the surroundings.
Having crossed the threshold, on every step we experience the consistent structure made from brick and raw concrete. These two constructional and simultaneously finishing materials determine the austere character of the building. The classrooms, realized in a severe aesthetics of architectonic concrete, due to the glazed walls and half-opened courtyards create integral world of the interior and exterior. Colorful floors and vivid details of the furnishings such as window blinds and furniture contrast with grey background.
