JFK Terminal 6 – Sundrome Pavilion Demoliton
Campaign for reprieve re John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 6 demolition.
Proposal to demolish Sundrome building at JFK by The Port Authority of New York.
Area: 66,000 sqft
Reputedly the JFK Sundrome was the first airport structure to use glass as a primary construction material. Previously the campaign to save JFK Terminal 5 was successful
thus giving the Save Terminal 6 campaigners some hope. However the Sundrome is not desginated a landmark by the NY Landmarks Preservation Commission.
I. M. Pei won the coveted RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 2010 so it would be rather ironic if this classic JKF building was demolished this year.
