SAP Garden Arena
Built on the site of the former Olympic Velodrome and with Frei Otto and Günther Behnisch’s iconic Olympic Stadium as its neighbour, the new SAP Garden arena is informed by the legacy of its location and surroundings. The 62,500m² arena project is designed by 3XN in collaboration with CL MAP and landscape architects Latz + Partner for client Red Bull.

With its one to three bedroom, highly flexible apartments, flats, gallery lofts and rooftop flats, UNStudio and developer Bauwerk‘s recently completed Van B residential project in Munich not only caters to changing demographics and multiple family constellations, it offers indoor-outdoor living, communal spaces, shared facilities and a new highly flexible plug-in system that can make a 40sqm apartment feel like a 60m2 loft.

In a high class residential area, a large volume residence had to be constructed on a relatively small site. Located next to a sizeable outdoor pool, there was very little space for a garden.

In the new Werksviertel located in the east of Munich, where mashed potatoes, motorcycles and men’s suits were once manufactured and party people were out and about in Kunstpark Ost and Kultfabrik, a new urban neighborhood providing a high level of social diversity is currently under construction. Prominently situated with a view opening towards the Ostbahnhof station, the striking iCampus Rhenania complex of office buildings invites passersby into the neighborhood.

Perlach Plaza is a hub, a signboard, and a calling card. With its urban mixed use of retail, service businesses, restaurants, residential units (110 rental apartments, 104 student apartments), and a hotel, it has a central urban-design function in the development of the new KulturQuadrat center.

Global architectural design firm Populous has been chosen as the architect for a new multi-use, climate-neutral, 20,000 capacity event arena in Munich, following Council approval for the project. Freising City Council agreed in principle to give the plans the green light, which will see Bavaria-based SWMUNICH Real Estate GmbH (SWMUNICH) plan, build and operate a world-class multi-use concert and convention centre, backed by more than 300 million euros of private sector investment.

David Chipperfield Architects Berlin has won the competition for the development of a mixed-use complex in the heart of Munich. The jury chaired by Professor Ludwig Wappner, selected the office’s design, developed in collaboration with the landscape architects Atelier Loidl Landschaftsarchitekten, as the winner from a total of eleven entries from international architectural practices.
