Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge
This iconic Southern California bridge connects Balboa Park to the San Diego Bay, completing the city’s 100-year-old vision of a Park-to-Bay link. It also provides a safe crossing over the heavily traveled Harbor Drive and existing train and trolley tracks, and links the San Diego Convention Center and a multi-level parking garage on the bay side with a main route into the city’s downtown and nearby Petco Park.

The Callie Restaurant design project, by Los Angeles-based Studio UNLTD, includes the replacement of the interiors of a 638 sqm space on the ground floor of a corporate high-rise in downtown San Diego, California. In Callie, Studio UNLTD has designed a space that possesses warmth, soul, and a sense of wonder which will reverberate beyond its doors to establish Callie as a true destination restaurant.

Stephens Waring Design announces a new design concept called OASys (Ocean Architectural System) created specifically to reimagine shoreline hotels, resorts, and housing. The model falls under the brand of the award-winning boat designer called IMMERST, which will address some of the most pressing coastline development challenges including limited land, habitat preservation, and climate change.

The expanded Museum will offer four times the current gallery space, two levels of light-filled galleries, a public park, and new seaside terraces offering dramatic views of the Pacific Coast. The new design includes the renovation of 28,000 sqft of existing spaces as well as the addition of 46,400 square feet of new spaces to MCASD, effectively doubling the Museum’s existing square footage.

The Museum reopened to the public on September 3, 2021, exactly three years after closing for a transformative construction project. Entry into the Museum Labor Day weekend, Friday, September 3 through Monday, September 6, will be free for all as a gift to the city. The museum building will be open 10am-5pm, seven days a week, with expanded evening hours until 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

An international team led by London based artist Peter Fink (Form Associates) and lighting designer Mark Major (Speirs + Major) in association with Buro Happold in Los Angeles has been announced as the winner of the largest interactive green energy lighting project in North America. The San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge, built in 1969 in the spectacular context of the bay, has become a symbol of the San Diego area – just as the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges are symbols for San Francisco.
