Rapas Pedestrian Bridge
International architecture practice Grimshaw, in partnership with Eiffage, leading the design team and Ingerop, ppa.architectures, ATP and Quartier Lumières, has won the competition to design Rapas pedestrian bridge in Toulouse in the south of France. The bridge is one of two bridges, announced as winners of the design competition led by Toulouse Metropole, that will serve to better connect pedestrians and cyclists to the regenerated Ile de Ramier – the new ‘green lung’ for the city on the river Garonne.

Festival Hall Pratgraussals Albi
On the north bank of the river Tarn, 400m as the crow flies from Albi’s celebrated Cathedral of Saint Cecilia, Pratgraussals sits in a bend on the river on the site of a former quarry, latterly appreciated for leisure and nature. For the new community centre, we have proposed a building that responds to the landscape, and whose morphology allows for a variety of possible future uses.

Toulouse Housing
Work will shortly begin on the construction of the housing blocks in the Andromède district (Toulouse), near the airport of Toulouse-Blagnac. The site is ready for construction work, which will last 18 months. The project consists of four volumes built around a central garden that will house 104 dwellings, each with a terrace or balcony. The four buildings share a car-parking floor, which has a waterproofing system to prevent future leakage, as this is a wetland area.

Parc des Expositions Toulouse
PEX consists of three parallel bands: the multi-function Event Hall, with a massive doorway allowing performances to spread outdoors; a 40,000m2 column-free Exhibition Hall; and, in the middle band, a 160,000m2 parking silo. Instead of banishing parking underground or pushing it to the periphery of the site, parking ramps are visible through glass partitions from inside the halls. The massive structure of PEX is a simple and flexible three-dimensional grid, providing a plug-in system for exhibitors and facilities.
